Demand to reach historic lows in 2009 before starting slow recovery
Demand for lumber in the U.S. in 2009 will slide to the lowest level in modern history, then move toward a slow recovery starting next year, according to a new WWPA forecast.  For more details on the lumber market outlook for the coming year, click here.

Western lumber production in 2007 declines for second straight year
Plummeting housing starts dropped lumber production in the Western states to an 11-year low in 2007, according to final figures released by WWPA. The 16.3 billion board feet of lumber produced at Western sawmills was the lowest since 1996. For more on the 2007 production, including state totals, click here.
